Pie pie, sweet pie, sweet pie

The life of pie

Anerra is one of our regular hosts at the Green Dragon, and sometimes she writes new songs for the occasion! This song is from Friday November 19, when she tried to make a local inn guest promise not to sing of pie over Home Sweet Home. It worked!

Pie pie, sweet pie, sweet pie

My Sister had been cooking and came walking down to me, singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie
Showed me the pie and said “Shall we eat?” singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie

It looked good…
It smelled fine…
So good, so fine, that I nearly lost my mind

Before I knew it she was sitting next to me, singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie
Munching at her pie very hungrily, singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie

I walked on
Out of my door
Picked an apple from the garden and ate it like the day before

I had been on this Elven Diet for some time: raw veggies and an apple
a day
Not what a Hobbit would really consider a meal…

Now she was cooking nearly every single day, singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie
Mockingly she held a slice under my nose, singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie!

I gave in!
It’s mine!
I grabbed the slice, and another, and up to nine!

I had forgotten how good this tastes
This is the food I’d been craving for!

Now I eat pie seven meals a’ day, singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie!
No more “An apple a day keeps the Medic Elf away…” singing:
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie!

At breakfast and second
Elevenses and luncheon
Afternoon tea, dinner, supper, really all the time!

Yay!

Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie!
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie!
Pie, pie, sweet pie, sweet pie!

About the song

The song is best sung to the tune of “Do Wah Diddy Diddy”, made famous by Manfred Mann’s version which yer can listen to here!
